What happens when eight true musicians from around the world join forces with a charismatic singer, Momo, in order to give free rein to their unbridled joy of making music? The answer to this question is supplied by Balagan, a unique production directed by Sebastiano Toma. Balagan is a Russian word for a carnival booth, but also a farce – here, fiery temperament combines with melancholy; passion mingles with the lightness of comedy.
Under the direction of Ukrainian composers Mark Chaet and Sergej Sweschinskij, classical, klezmer, tango, pop and even punk music is ironically and cheekily merged with traditional sounds. International stage artists turn the musical fireworks into an unforgettable experience. Balagan is a state of mind, a mood, a feeling of overflowing joy, heart-touching romanticism and pure energy.
Balagan is not entirely circus, but a magical, feelgood experience.

You are reminded of Berlin at the turn of the 20th century, of Nachtlokale (all-night bars), Yiddish cabaret and Russian performances – wonderful lyric moments.
